I went to Univ of North Texas College of Music – I studied Composition & Music Theory and graduated after 6 years. It’s unrealistic to finish in 4 years at UNT, if you look at the outline for the “ideal” schedule, it’s not practical unless you’re a major prodigy, which few were. It’s designed, I think, to weed out the “hey man I wanna study music!” and strip away the pride of the musician. Do you REALLY want to study music? Then you’ll have to shatter your world and strip away your ego.. and then we begin. It was tenaciously difficult but extremely enjoyable.

I have to say UNT met, shattered, exceeded and portrayed a dream of expectations that I didn’t existed.

I’m a guitar/piano teacher in DFW, and have been for 3 years or so since graduation. I also have written some scripts and am working to start a few businesses (involving music) in order to pay some debt, save some money and move to LA to be a writer/director/composer.

I would absolutely do it again if I went back in time. I guess the point I’m making is that I WANT TO DO IT AGAIN right now again with my current information, so that the second time around I can pick up what I missed due to my lack of experience.

    Debt Accrued: $25,001 - $50,000

    Found work after graduation? Yes

I went to University of North Texas, graduating with a BA in 2001. I was lucky enough to be a part of the last class to shoot and edit on film (16mm) before the digital revolution.

The school was a great choice for me. I have found consistent work since graduation. I haven’t had a non-industry job in almost 8 years.

The contacts you make in school last a lifetime. Nearly every job I’ve ever had can be traced back to a contact I made in school.

    Debt Accrued: $10,001 - $25,000
