I attended California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, Ca in Los Angeles County.
My degree was entitled Digital Media Arts: Music Technology Major and Music Minor with the focal point of my degree being “Music Production” and “Sound Engineering.” I graduated in the Fall of 2009 after accruing $50,000 in student loan debt and another $20,000 in credit card debt.

I have high expectations for myself and realized soon after beginning my journey at Dominguez Hills that I was quickly engulfed in the political drama of the staff at the University as well as being short changed with the lack of funding for the Audio Department. I learned a lot but I could have learned a lot more had there been guidelines for the faculty that required more hands on training of specific concepts for the students at the university.

Amazingly I have had plenty opportunities to work, but would love to work regularly. The fact that I have found work at all is a miracle considering 90% of my cohorts are either unemployed or working in totally unrelated job positions as a result of graduating unprepared for the economy and the complexities that exist in the culture of the industry. The program definitely lacked the business aspect, luckily I already understood business to a certain extent to navigate after graduation. I have worked for the likes of Herbie Hancock, M.I.A., Vince Wilburn (Miles Davis’ Nephew/drummer), multiple production companies including the Mary Pickford Institute, and various venues doing live mixing which I didn’t learn in class rather was self taught as I attended Dominguez.
